Time management is a crucial factor that determines the efficiency of dispute resolution. In arbitration, besides adhering strictly to the deadlines prescribed by law and institutional arbitration rules, the Arbitral Tribunal and the parties involved may consider and agree upon the use of suitable tools to better control time, preventing unnecessary delays, especially in complex cases with multiple claims and procedural requirements.
In practice, the effective use of procedural tools and coordinated case management has enabled many disputes to be resolved promptly, saving significant time and costs for the parties. However, challenges in time management still persist, which hinder some cases from achieving timely and efficient resolution.
To foster discussions and gather insights from both academic research and practical experience, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), in collaboration with leading legal education institutions including: Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (ULAW); College of Economic, Law and Government, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (CELG – UEH); University of Economics and Law, VNU HCM (UEL); Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, continues to host the Arbitration - Mediation Symposium 2025 (AMS 2025).
Under the theme “Time management in arbitration: Practical necessity and implementation tools”, AMS 2025 aspires to serve as a vibrant forum for arbitrators, mediators, legal practitioners, scholars, and experts to exchange valuable perspectives. Through this initiative, participants will gain deeper insights into the significance of time management in arbitration, contribute to discussions on improving procedural rules, propose legal reforms, and collectively enhance the efficiency of arbitration in the years to come.

ARBITRATION - MEDIATION SYMPOSIUM (AMS)
Arbitration - Mediation Symposium is an event series launched at the beginning of each year and conducted during the first quarter. Not only does this series provide participants with a helpful, in-depth forum, but it also makes a contribution to supporting the parties in resolving disputes effectively and improving the legal framework of ADRs in Vietnam.
